The fingerprint reader of Samsung Galaxy S5 has been hacked
Three days ago the Galaxy S5 has been released and since it has been found that the fingerprint scanner of Samsung Galaxy S5 suffers the same problems as the iPhone 5s . A German security company called SRLabs has hacked the fingerprint sensor of Galaxy S5 using a similar method that was used to replace the sensor ID Press of iPhone 5s .
The team made ??a picture of the finger in question and then recreated the finger in a mold. The mold was able to fool the sensor footprints S5 successfully.
The problem with this definitely the most disturbing and when we unlock the S5 through fingerprint there are a lot of operations that can be performed without putting any password. Even with this system we could steal money from the account PayPal we have linked to our user. In the following video you can see the process:
If we insert a system that is supposedly safe and ended up tying everything to it the consequences can be fatal if it ends up having a fault. In the end I think a system like this serves to perform functions faster or more agile but not yet a definitive solution to the security problems.
However it has only been shown to be hackeable although the system is not easy. If you know that is not foolproof or do you also other options like the traditional password.
