Google presents the Automotive Open Alliance: Android aims to cars
Multimedia systems fitted to modern cars are becoming more advanced and so far had been no move by Google to gain control of these systems. Till today as Google has introduced the Open Automotive Alliance alliance emerged to facilitate the landing of Android in our cars.
This alliance is in addition to Google itself formed by major car manufacturers such as Generals Motors Honda Hyundai or Audi . To bring this technology to automotive Google needed a hardware manufacturer and it seems that I was chosen to NVIDIA which likely provide the SoC to be integrated into the developments arising fruit of this alliance.
It points to the end of 2014 as the date on which we shall come to market with the first vehicles built Android fruit of this alliance. Among the advantages that Android is expected to bring the vehicles to be introduced in greater connectivity interactive maps for navigation and is expected most complete entertainment system .
It will be interesting to see how it evolves the development of integrated systems in our cars result of our alliance as many manufacturers and integrate tablets extractable dashboards of their latest models so the development of the new systems will be more oriented to the integration and Android Convergence with all vehicle systems.
Google of course leaves the door open to the entry of more manufacturers over the coming months both auto and hardware. Anyway we have to wait to the last months of the year to see the first steps in regards to cars fully connected by Android. As always you can follow all the latest in Android Peak.
Finally we would like to know your opinion . How about this alliance? What do you expect as it relates products?
